The Gym on Jeter Drive Is Open, and It Was Built Around the Word Village
By The Magnolia Standard · August 11, 2026
A run club at eight on Saturday morning, childcare on site, and kids' classes on Tuesdays. The workout is only part of what this place is selling.
Village Fit Co. is open at 19016 Jeter Drive, in Old Magnolia, a short walk from Unity Park. It was announced back in January as a spring opening. It is running now, and the schedule on its door is a good deal fuller than most new gyms manage in their first year.
The offering is coach-led strength and conditioning, Pilates, youth development classes and functional health nutrition support, with 24-hour access for members. Open gym runs 7 to 9 in the morning and noon to 4. Strength and conditioning runs five times a day, from 5 in the morning through 6 at night. Pilates runs several times a day. Kids' classes are Tuesday and Thursday at 10. There is a run club at 8 on Saturday morning and a community workout at 9. A weekday plyometrics block ran through the end of July and is not on the current schedule.
Two of those details are the ones worth pausing on, because they are the ones that decide whether a parent in this town can actually use a gym. Childcare on site. And a class schedule that admits children exist and puts them on the calendar instead of treating them as an obstacle to be solved at home.
The founder is Kayla Medellin. When Community Impact covered the plan in January, she framed the whole thing around a word most people use loosely: village. "Many families no longer have that support around them," she said. "And it's time we build the village we all need." She has also spoken publicly about the gym as a second chance in the wake of her brother's death at eighteen.
That is a lot to hang on a squat rack, and it would be easy to be cynical about it. What makes it worth taking at face value is the schedule itself. A run club and a Saturday community workout do not make anybody money. They exist because somebody wanted people standing in a parking lot together at eight in the morning.
The location matters too. Old Magnolia has spent a long time watching new business go up the FM 1488 corridor toward The Woodlands, and this one went the other way, into the older part of town near the park. That is a bet on foot traffic and neighbors rather than on a light at a major intersection.

New gyms open and close in every growing town in Texas. The ones that last usually turn out to be the ones people showed up to on a Saturday when nothing was required of them.
