For Families, Businesses and Organizations
Send us your news
A verified brief in English and Spanish costs nothing. Here is what we run, what we need, and how it works.
Free
News briefs are never for sale. If it checks out and it is local, we run it.
Bilingual
Every brief publishes in English and Spanish, same day.
Verified
We rewrite it in our words and confirm it before it prints. Read by an editor, not a bot.
What we run
Good news about real people, close to home
-
Students and teams
Honors, signings, state results, scholarships, Eagle Scout projects, a kid who did something hard and did it well.
-
Business milestones
Openings, anniversaries, new owners, expansions, a hire worth naming. If you have been on FM 1488 for twenty years, that is news to us.
-
Churches, nonprofits and clubs
Drives, fundraisers, volunteer counts, grants received, new programs, leadership changes.
-
Public notices that matter
Road closures, water-district decisions, school-board and council items, election filings. Send the document, not the summary.
-
Events
Anything a neighbor could walk into. These go on the community calendar; give us two weeks if you can.
What we need
Five things, and the last one is not optional
-
A local tie
Magnolia, Dobbin, Montgomery, Pinehurst, Todd Mission, or the unincorporated county around them. A person, a business, or a place a reader could drive to.
-
Something we can check
A results page, a filing, a permit, a program, a date on a calendar. We confirm before we print, and a link saves everyone a phone call.
-
A person we can reach
A name and a phone number for someone who was actually there. Not a publicist. We will call.
-
Photos, with permission
Send originals, not screenshots, and tell us who took them. We only run photos we have written permission to use, and we credit the photographer.
-
Under 18? A parent signs off
For anyone under eighteen we need a parent or guardian to approve the photos and quotes in writing before anything runs, free or paid. We never publish a minor’s home address or schedule.
How it works
Send it. We call. It runs.
-
1
You send it
Use the form below or email editor@themagnoliastandard.news. Attach photos and anything that proves the facts.
-
2
We check it
An editor reads it, confirms the facts, and usually calls the person named. If something does not check out, we ask. We do not guess.
-
3
We write it
In our words, not your release. Eighty to a hundred and twenty words, English and Spanish, one photo when we have permission.
-
4
It runs, and you get the link
Usually within a week. We send you the URL to share. No fee, no strings.
Two things we will not do: run something we could not confirm, and run an advertisement as if it were news. Paid pieces on this site carry a label that says so. Our full standards are in Ethics & Corrections.
Want more than a brief?
The Featured Announcement
Some news deserves more than a hundred words. A state title. Twenty years in business. A grandmother’s ninetieth. The Featured Announcement is a full profile written from our interview with you, published in both languages, sent to our subscribers, and delivered as a printable keepsake. It is labeled as an announcement, because it is one.

Got it. Thank you.
An editor will read it and reply within two business days, usually with a question or two and a request for photos. If it checks out, it runs in both languages and you get the link.
