The Nearest Clinic for People Without Insurance Is in Tomball. Its Fundraiser Is in Magnolia.

By The Magnolia Standard · August 28, 2026

A golf tournament is an easy thing to skip past in a calendar listing. What it pays for is a dentist chair somebody could not otherwise sit in.

On October 1, TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries holds its annual charity golf tournament at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club, 37300 Golf Club Trail in Magnolia. It runs 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry is $150 for an individual and $600 for a team of four.

The tournament is in Magnolia. The clinic is not, and that gap is the reason this is worth a story rather than a calendar line.

TOMAGWA has been operating for 37 years. It provides medical care, dental, vision, lab work, pharmacy services and case management to people with limited resources, on a sliding fee discount program. It describes itself plainly as a Christian healthcare ministry.

Its clinic is at 455 School Street, Suite 30, in Tomball, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A second location sits on Wunderlich Drive in the Champions area, and a mobile unit covers parts of greater Houston.

Why the address matters here

Magnolia does not have a charity clinic of its own. A family in this town without insurance, or with a plan whose deductible makes it functionally the same thing, is looking at a drive to Tomball for a cleaning, a pair of glasses, or a prescription they have been putting off.

Twenty minutes is not far. It is far enough to stop somebody who is working two jobs and does not have a car that reliably starts.

Dental and vision are the two that get skipped longest, because neither one kills you quickly. Both of them end careers slowly. A clinic that puts medical, dental, vision and a pharmacy in one building is designed around exactly that problem, which is that people with no coverage do not make four separate appointments.

The practical part

The number is 281.357.0747. Ask about the sliding fee discount program specifically, because that is the mechanism that sets what a visit costs, and it is based on what you make.

Nobody should assume they earn too much to qualify. Sliding scales exist because the line is not where most people guess it is.

As for the tournament, $600 puts four people on a course in Magnolia for a morning in October. It is a pleasant way to spend a Thursday and an unusually direct one. The money does not go into a general fund somewhere. It goes into a building where somebody gets a tooth fixed.
