A Crystal Lagoon Is Coming to FM 1488

By The Magnolia Standard · June 16, 2026

A new master-planned community is rising west of Highway 249, and the thing at its center is one this stretch of Montgomery County hasn't had: a Crystal Lagoon, with more than 100 acres of parks set aside alongside the homes.

Drive west on FM 1488 past Highway 249 and you'll see the dirt moving. Grand Magnolia is taking shape there, and at its center sits something this stretch of Montgomery County hasn't had: a Crystal Lagoon, the swimmable, beach-style water feature that anchors a whole neighborhood. Plans set aside more than 100 acres for parks and recreation alongside the new homes.

Crews started landscape work on the first sections this spring, and project filings show the early sidewalk, planting, and irrigation running through the summer. For families along the corridor, it's one more sign the road keeps pulling growth toward Magnolia instead of past it.
