A Couple Who Got Married Here Just Signed for Two Restaurants. The First One Is Magnolia.

By The Magnolia Standard · September 1, 2026

A two-restaurant agreement, an Atlanta breakfast brand, and a Magnolia wedding somewhere in the background. What has not been announced is where, or when.

On August 14, The Flying Biscuit Cafe announced that Mitchell and Heather Wagner had signed a two-unit franchise agreement covering the greater Houston area. The first of the two is slated for Magnolia.

That is the whole of the announcement, and this piece is going to be careful about the difference between a signed agreement and an open restaurant. Specific locations and opening timing were not released. The company said those would be announced separately.

So nobody should be watching a particular building yet.

Who signed it

The Wagners were married in Magnolia. In the announcement they said they wanted to put down roots here, and the reason they gave for picking the brand was less about biscuits than about the room.

"We chose Flying Biscuit because it's more than a restaurant, it's a place where community comes together over great food and genuine hospitality," they said.

Franchisee quotes in a press release are franchisee quotes in a press release. Still, a local wedding is a specific fact, and it is a different starting position from a group in another state buying territory off a map.

What the brand is

The Flying Biscuit Cafe is an Atlanta-born breakfast and lunch operation. All-day breakfast is the format. The name is the menu's whole argument.

Magnolia has been getting evening restaurants for three years. Dinner is where the corridor has filled in. Breakfast and lunch, sit-down, seven days, is a thinner category out here, and it is a different customer: the eight o'clock table, the after-church crowd, the people who want to meet somebody over eggs rather than over a beer.

And after that

The agreement covers two restaurants. The Wagners have said they are interested in New Caney and College Station down the road, but the release was explicit that no territory beyond the current two-unit deal has been awarded.

Worth holding onto, because expansion talk has a way of hardening into fact by the third retelling. Two units. One of them here. That is what exists on paper.

The announcement described Magnolia as one of the fastest-growing towns in the Houston area while holding onto a close-knit, hometown feel. That is the sentence every brand writes about this town now. It is also the sentence that keeps bringing them, so it is doing its job.

When an address turns up, or a permit does, the Standard will run it. Until then this is a signature, not a groundbreaking.

No address, permit or opening date has been announced or confirmed by this paper, and readers should treat any circulating location as unverified until one is. The observation about Magnolia's recent restaurant openings skewing toward dinner is this paper's characterization. Corrections to editor@themagnoliastandard.news.
