A Ride, a Craft and Christmas in July: Your Magnolia Weekend
By The Magnolia Standard · July 24, 2026
Three things worth leaving the air conditioning for this Saturday, all inside Magnolia, and two of them free.
Saturday starts with engines. The Alphy Lopez Benefit Ride rolls out at 8:30 a.m. from 18535 FM 1488, Suite 155, a community motorcycle ride raising money for a neighbor's medical bills after an accident. Entry is a minimum donation of $35, and every dollar has a face attached to it. If you ride, this is the one to show up for. If you don't, the send-off is worth watching with a coffee in hand.
Mid-morning belongs to the market crowd. Living Stones Church, at 26605 Peden Road, hosts a Christmas in July market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., free to walk. Local vendors, holiday theme, five months of lead time on your shopping list. The regular Saturday market on Tamina Road runs its usual 9-to-1 morning too, so a determined shopper can hit both before lunch.
The quiet gem is at 3 p.m. The community center at 422 Melton St. hosts a free corn husk doll workshop, a hands-on class in a craft Native peoples of this region have practiced for generations, listed through the area's Native American cultural programming. It's the kind of thing you take a kid to and end up enjoying more than they do. No charge, just show up.
One look-ahead for the school crowd: Williams Elementary holds its Kickoff to Kinder and Playground with the Principals event on Monday, July 27, per Magnolia ISD's back-to-school calendar. Incoming kindergartner? That's your Monday morning.
Got an event that belongs in this column? Churches, schools, fundraisers, markets: the calendar is free. Send the details to the newsroom by Wednesday for the Friday edition.
