Volleyball First, Then the Pads: Magnolia's Fall Sports Calendar

The first fall sport back is volleyball. Under the UIL calendar, high school teams across Texas can hold their first practice on Saturday, August 1, with scrimmages allowed from August 7 and the first real matches from August 10. So the Lady Bulldogs will be on the court before the football team touches a blocking sled, and before the first bell of the school year rings.

Football camp follows within the week. The UIL's 2026 dates put the first day of conditioning at August 3 for programs that did not hold spring practice and August 10 for programs that did, helmets only at first, with full contact starting a few days into each window. Which track Magnolia High is on depends on its spring schedule; the athletic office can tell you if you want to set a lawn chair out for day one.

The date that matters most is already circled. Magnolia opens at home on Friday, August 28, against Willis, 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs come off a 9-2 season that went 7-1 in district, so the opener should draw a crowd. A road trip to College Station follows on September 4.

Then comes the one everybody asks about first: Magnolia at Magnolia West, Friday, September 11, at Mustang Stadium. Crosstown week lands early this year. Home dates after that include Klein Collins on September 18, Klein Oak on October 2, Klein Forest on October 23, and the regular-season finale against Tomball on November 6.

Playing dates for Week One across the state run August 27 through 29, and the season funnels toward district certification November 7. That's the far end of the calendar. The near end is simpler: the gym doors open a week from Saturday.
